Small Plane Crashes in Belo Horizonte, Kills Three People

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A small plane with four people on board crashed this morning in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais. According to the Fire Department, the accident hit vehicles and has left, so far, three people dead and three others injured.

Colonel Erlon Dias do Nascimento Botelho, subcommander of the State Fire Department, confirmed at a press conference that one of the dead is a pedestrian and that the pilot was rescued alive. It is not yet known if the other victims were inside the aircraft or on the street.

The crash happened between Minerva and Belmiro Braga streets, in the Caiçara district. The address is near the Carlos Prates Airport and is the same residential area where another plane crashed in April of this year.

At the moment, seven Fire Department vehicles and a helicopter are in the region for rescue work, and the fire has been partially controlled.
