Chef Mix Gourmet Food Festival in Barra This Weekend

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On Saturday, November 29th from 5PM to 12AM, and on Sunday, November 30th, from 2PM to 7PM, the Chef Mix Gourmet food festival will hold its fourth edition at the Clube Náutico do Mandala in the Rio de Janeiro Zona Oeste (West Zone) neighborhood of Barra da Tijuca.

This year the festival will feature over thirty vendors, including well known Rio chefs, offerings from popular Rio restaurants and food trucks, a new addition to the Chef Mix Gourmet. Additionally there will be a live graffiti demonstration, a DJ, a workshop for children, and product vendors, including Bombay Herbs & Spices and Wine Mood, among others

Created by chef Patricia Metre and businessman Eziel Prete, this edition of the festival will have a special theme, “Flavors of the World.” The festival’s goal is to introduce attendees to international cuisine in addition to the special offerings from Brazil.

Foods from the United States, Ireland, Mexico, Greece, Germany, Thailand, France, Argentina, Italy, Japan, and Portugal will be available during the two-day event.

Hell’s Burguer, will represent the United States by serving their famous 200g burger topped with melted cheddar cheese, bacon, barbecue sauce and sprinkled with spices for R$20. While Chefs Alê Marcossen and Carmem Zuany will deliver Irish flavors with their special Guinness beef stew and potato bread sandwiches for R$20.

Other restaurants vendors will include, The Baguel Store, Lambuzado Confeitaria, Fernando Machado Bolos, Cozinha Gourmet, Agave, Maná and Nordeste in Rio, among others.

For some of the best Mexican dishes, including ice cream made with fruits from the Cerrado region of Brazil, the double food truck, Los Mexicanos/Frutos do Cerrado will be parked, opened and ready to serve during the festival. Other food trucks will include Land Thai, Dead Dog,and Contrabando.

Also during the festival, owned of Curupira Azul and cake designer Andreia Grimaldi, will teach children to make cupcakes as she hosts the free “Mini Chefs Workshop.”

Providing live entertainment will be street artist João Vellozo, who will do live graffiti and stencils, including a work of the Chef Mix Flavors of the World logo on the 29th. DJ Luís Melo, known for his many Carnival appearances, also will spin live during the event.
