Funk Singer Deize Tigrona Performs at Eden in Rio, Nov 12th

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Funk singer, Deize Tigrona will be performing November 12th at the Velcro party. Tigrona is known for her success on the funk music scene, yet this weekend she will be adapting her greatest hits to weave in lesbian lyrics for her audience.

Velcro is a party for gay women and is held at the liberal nightlife venue, Eden in downtown neighborhood, Saude. The venue is open-minded and often holds gay-friendly parties with a zero-tolerance to any homophobia or racism.

Tigrona is hailed as the pioneer of feminist funk with her music touching upon subjects about women’s desires, seeking to normalize a topic that is often overlooked or ignored. On Saturday, she will be held in high regards as the muse of lesbians with a performance especially dedicated to her audience.

The extent of this dedication includes Tigrona preparing new versions of her lyrics from her greatest hits that will have lesbian plays on words and will connect better to her audience. Her new lyrics will include jokes on words that are considered lesbian slang that the party-goers will be able to relate to.

“In this world of black and white, I have learned that the rainbow path is, quite often, also one of self-esteem,” muses Tigrona in a press release. “I have many lesbian friends, including my sister and their self-esteem shines bright. I’ve never seen my sister sad.”

To accompany Tigrona in what will undoubtedly be an unforgettable performance, there will be several DJs spinning various tracks to keep the party animated and thumping. The line up includes well-known DJ Jess, DJ Fernanda Fox, DJ Ingrid Grundig, DJ Luise Fuchsloch, DJ EveHive and DJ Glaucia Tavares. These DJs are famous on the music scene with many having performed in various other popular music venues and clubs throughout Rio de Janeiro.

The party will start at 11:30 PM at Eden in Saude. Tickets can be brought online pior to the party to guarantee entry. The music throughout the night will be various songs of well-known funk music.
