RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Three event producers in Rio de Janeiro have come together create a new party that will celebrate the many sounds of urban culture from around the world with DJs spinning everything from Brazilian rhythms to ragga to cumbia to bass. Named, Mandinga, the party will make its debut at the Hotel Caesar Park Rio de Janeiro in Ipanema on Friday, January 15th.
Andrei Y. Marcello MBgroove and Thiago Esposito are the producers and DJs behind the party. Each of the three bring years of experience to the event.
Andrei Yurievitch (Andrei Y.) is known for the Manie Dansante parties which feature the best of electro swing, swing, electro blues, jazz and other retro beats while Thiago Esposito is a producer of Rio Scenarium and Festa Jazz Ahead. Marcello MBgroove produced the Soul de Santa parties and was one of the creators of the Arriba La Fiesta, a party known for delivering the best of tropical sounds to Rio’s college campuses.
The three producers came together when they found that they shared an interest and desire to discover where there was new music that was not overproduced.
“It was from there questions that came about during an informal conversations that the idea of the party was born,” producer and DJ Marcello MBgroove said in a released statement. “It was a kind of research I’ve always done for my sets and for my first musical productions. Many of these works had places in common, the ghettos around the world were there represented in some way: in afrobeats in bass culture, nu-cumbia, carimbó, guitarrada, twerk, moombathon, ragga, maracatu, breakbeats, and so on. ”
“It turned out that when I was researching where one could hear the authentic grooves of the ghettos,” Thiago Espósito added, “I discovered that clubs like Yaam in Berlin; Electric Brixton in London; Bembe in New York; La Solar in Medellin; and other various capital cities already had this thought as were engaged in this process. Why not bring that sound to Rio? The crowd will enjoy it for sure. It has swagger, and it has sun is up-and-coming … it is the face of Rio. ”
For the first edition of the Mandinga party, French DJ, Gringo da Parada will spin to open the night then Marcello MBgroove and Andrei Y. will follow.
The party is part of Hotel Caesar Park’s ongoing Rendez Vous programming, a set of events that take place on the hotel’s rooftop, which features a pool and offers stunning views of Ipanema Beach. Previous Rendez Vous sessions have featured special guest DJs including Gringo da Parada and Amercian DJ Tee Cardaci.
