RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Sunday, July 10th is Dia da Pizza (Pizza Day) and many restaurants and bars in Rio de Janeiro will offer specials and promotions. With options ranging from the traditional calabresa (pepperoni) and mozzarella to shrimp to vegetarian to dessert banana pizza and many other varied offerings, there will be a deal for every pizza lover.
Riá Restaurant in Lapa will celebrate Dia da Pizza with chef Eduardo Souza offering the traditional options of calabresa with mozzarella and margherita (tomato) for R$40 each. Riá Restaurant, Rua do Riachuelo, 242, Lapa.

The recently opened Pizzaria Camelo in Ipanema will offer shrimp pizza with olives and Parmesan cheese; mushroom with shimeji, soy sauce, buffalo mozzarella and Parma ham; tomato, mozzarella, Parma ham, and artichoke; green olives, artichoke and mozzarella; and/or banana pizza with banana slices, caramel sauce, condensed milk, cinnamon, and chocolate with prices ranging from R$53 to R$180. Known for quality vegetarian food, BioCarioca in Copacabana will celebrate Dia da Pizza on the night of Saturday, July 9th with a fifty percent off special on pizzas including marguerita; four cheese; and gorgonzola with walnuts and honey and on various vegan dishes. Bar Do Horto in Jardim Botânico will offer special pizzas with crust made tapioca topped with Shiittake mushrooms and tofu or three cheese with tomato and basil and/or a dessert pizza with bananas, chocolate, and vanilla ice cream for prices ranging from R$38 to R$39. Chef Ju Reis at Manifesto BCA in Leme will offer artisanal pizzas with toppings of calabres, olives, caramelized onions, mozzarella, and tomato; Shitake mushrooms, mozzarella, gorgonzola, tomato sauce and Parma ham; asparagus, Parmesan cheese, basil pesto, Parma ham and mozzarella; and/or calabresa, bacon, mushroom, thyme, and mozzarella, among other topping combinations in prices that begin at R$46.
