Festa SexTape, the FexXxta Junina June 14thFriday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Experience a nightclub version of the traditional June Brazilian holidays known as Festas Juninas tonight as Centro’s Espaço Acústica hosts Festa SexTape, the FexXxta Junina edition.

Festas Juninas are folk celebrations held throughout the country during the month of June that celebrate three main saints; Saint Anthony (São António) on June 13th, Saint John the Baptist (São João) on June 24th, and Saint Peter (São Pedro) on June 29th. The parties usually include traditional foods, drinks, music and dances.

Tonight at Espaço Acústica, many Festa Junina foods and drinks will be served including; Quentão, a mulled wine, churrasquinho (bbq), sausage, queijo coalho (cheese), and more. Typical festival sweets including paçoca (a ground peanut, cassava flour and sugar candy), cocada (coconut candy), doce de leite (a sweetened condensed milk confection) and pé-de-moleque (similar to peanut brittle) will also be distributed throughout the night.

DJs Grazzia and SaJoão will take to the decks to spin pop, electronic, hip hop and funk during the event, while DJs Polly and Ivy will deliver the best of indie rock, metal and national rock.

Additionally no Festa Junina is complete without games and on the venues second floor there will be fishing and archery competitions. There will also be a kissing booth, with the participants previously chosen by votes on Facebook. Tequila body shots, a super beer bong, and cachaçca shots are three additional things you should know about tonight’s event in Centro.

FIFA Fan Fest (Copacabana)
From June 12th through July 13th, Copacabana beach will be home to the FIFA Fan Fest during the 2014 World Cup games. The 31,000 m² area on the beach between the streets of Princesa Isabel and Duvivier, will house a large screen to view the matches live and a stage for entertainers that, during the tournament, will include; Sorriso Maroto, Dudu Nobre, Arlindo Cruz, Anitta, Sandra de Sá, Bom Gosto, Suvaco de Cristo, Cordão da Bola Preta, Fogo e Paixão, Bloco Brasil, Empolga às Nove, Blitz. All 64 matches of the World Cup will be shown live, which the exception of simultaneous games, when one match will be broadcast later. On Brazilian match days a second 50m² screen will be added . Each game day, the area between the streets of Princesa Isabel and Duvivier will open two hours before the first match of the day and always close at 10PM. Capacity for the area is 20,000. Entry is free and entrance will be granted according to order of arrival.

Sinfônica Ambulante and Fanfarra Black Clube (Praia Vermelha)
During this season in Rio it’s the perfect weather for an outdoor party and tonight at Praia Vermelha, the beach located at the base of popular tourist attraction, Pão de Açúcar (Sugarloaf Mountain), groups Sinfônica Ambulante and Fanfarra Black Clube will battle it out live. Both Sinfônica Ambulante and Fanfarra Black Clube are well known for their celebratory and lively horn-filled performances. It’s an event not to be missed if you are a fan of soul, funk, and good times.

It’s time again for tech and deep house with the Me Gusta party at Fosfobox in Copacabana tonight. DJs Renato Bastos, Kriptus NYTRON Gomes, ROD B., and Bruno MATERA will spin in the club’s basement while it will be all about Nugrooves Rio above at the Fosfobar with Joca Vidal and David Tabalipa on the decks.

Shake Your Lapa with DJ Assault (Lapa)
Tonight at Lapa’s Majestade Show, the Shake Your Lapa event presents very special guest DJ Assault. A Detroit native, DJ Assault is well known for his ghettotech mixes and is considered a master of the genre. Ghettotech originated in Detroit and Chicago when DJs began mixing, at higher speeds than most club music, ghetto house with techno, electro bass, jungle, and hip-hop, often adding x-rated lyrics. Joining the party tonight will also be MCs Marcão Baixada and Ladie’s Gang; the hip hop duo Inumanos; MC Shawlin; and the DJs Erik Skratch, Tikano, Rebeca Dues, Baré and Mouchoque.

Tonight the B.L.E.S.S. event brings the sounds of reggae and Jamaican music to Marina da Glória’s Quiosque do Bispo. Celebrating outdoor parties, guest performers, MCs and DJs including Bangarang SS, Disco Reggae, RAdiola Lider de Som, DJ Rodrigo Cavalcanti and the Mcs Lápide and Loty will perform. Dona Onete and Mestre Vieira (Centro)
Tonight is the first of three nights that singer Dona Onete will perform works from her most recent album entitled, Feitiço Caboclo, at Centro’s CAIXA Cultural Rio de Janeiro. During the shows, Onete wlll be joined by guitarist Mestre Vieira, creator of the Guitarrada music genre. Viera has twenty studio album releases to his name and is well known for his unmistakable style. Together, the two will perform songs including; “Proposta indecente”, “Amor brejeiro” and “Poder da sedução”. Mestre Vieira will also play some of his well known works including; “Lambada do Rei”, “Pegando Corda” and “Cidade Linda”.

Vocalist and guitarist Marcos Novatto will start the night off at 7:30 PM at Carioca da Gema with Leo Russo following at 9:30 PM. Then, singer-songwriter Luiza Dionizio returns to Carioca da Gema at 11:30PM to perform her special brand of samba including her lively reinterpretations of the works of Luiz Carlos da Vila, Toninho Geraes, Clara Nunes, and João Nogueira, among others.

At 8PM Darcy Maravilha da Portela gets things started with the sounds of samba at Centro’s Rio Scenarium. Singer Jorginho do Império will follow at 11PM, with a performance of his songs including, “O Imperador”, “Água no feijão”, “Na beira do mar”, “Folha desabada” and “Tá delicia…tá gostoso”. Império will close his show with reinterpretations of classic samba. Bateria do Império Serrano will perform at 2:30 AM with the group Forró de Ponta following at 3AM, with the sounds of forró pé de serra.

As Benditas, Samba Urbano, and Seu Bando (Lapa)
Tonight in Lapa the all-female group As Benditas and the group Samba Urbano, will fill the first floor of the Leviano bar with the sounds of samba and their reinterpretations of the classics by Chico Buarque, João Nogueira, Martinho da Vila, and more. Later on the second floor, Bailão Leviano will present a show from Seu Bando featuring the best of samba, MPB, soul and pop rock. DJs Márlio and Aílton Areas will spin the best of samba, soul, funk, electronic and hip hop before and between the shows.
