LIVE:
Tribalistas @ Marina da Glória (Glória) – It wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that Tribalistas may be the biggest band in Brazil right now, and that this tour is one of the most anticipated for 15 years.

Returning with their second album, and first tour, Arnaldo Antunes, Marisa Monte and Carlinhos Brown will be playing all the hits from their first and second Tribalistas albums, including songs such as ‘Velha Infância’ and ‘Já Sei Namorar.’

Tickets are still available from R$70 and Tribalistas are also playing on Saturday.

PARTY:
Sexta Funk Universitária @ New Mariuzinn (Copacabana) – Friday is funk night at New Mariuzinn Copacabana.

There will be an open bar until 4AM, offering drinks such as vodka and juice, caipirinhas, beers and much more. Also on offer tonight are the classic cocktails Blue Lagoon and Sex on the Beach!

There are also deals including a double dosage of Budweiser and a double dosage of Chandon for the price of one.

Mariuzinn veteren DJ D’Luccio will be playing funk tune after funk tune. Expect lots of crazy dancing!

Tickets are between R$20-R$80 and look out for special offers on the VIP area and much more. Things should kick off at around 11PM and the night won’t stop until 5AM. So bring your dancing shoes, prepare to shake something and see in the weekend to the sound of Rio: funk!

The Maze: Jazz ao vivo (Catete) – The Maze is one of those places that is uniquely Rio. Set high up in the hillside favela community of Tavares Bastos, it is home to an art gallery, jazz club and B&B residence of British expatriate, Bob Nadkarni.

This Friday it will be hosting one of its famous jazz nights, it boasts that ‘for 6 consecutive years we have been listed by DOWNBEAT magazine as one of the 150 best Jazz venues in the world, together with names like Blue Note and Ronnie Scott’s.’

Things will get started at 10PM and the party lasts until 4AM. There will be transport up and down the hill all night with members of the Maze team guiding the way, authentic Indian snacks from Hoje Tem Curry, and it’s free entry for anyone whose birthday falls on that week. Otherwise, tickets are between R$40-50.

Winehouse (Botafogo)
Winehouse is a wine bar run by a British expat that has brought an eclectic range of wines to Rio including a mix of fabulous national wines and international favorites. There is also a great selection of nibbles and cheese boards. For those that aren’t too keen on wine, there is plenty of beer and cocktail options too. Happy hour begins at 5PM and finishes at 8PM.

Just around the corner from Posto 9, the bar is also known for its mostly English-speaking staff and the mostly English-speaking crowd which frequents the establishment.
