The Rio Times, Nightlife Guide, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nightlife, Bars, Clubs

We have the top three picks for this Friday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

PARTY:
Rio, Eu te Amo @ Biergarten Rio (Centro) – For those wanting a party that goes all day and night, head down to Biergarten Rio.

The newly revamped venue is hosting a declaration of love for Rio, in honor of Dia dos Namorados (Brazilian Valentine’s day) with a huge event.

Starting at 1PM, there will be a warm-up to the big World Cup game of the day, Portugal v Spain, which will be broadcast at 3PM on big screens.

Then at 7PM happy hour begins, with promotions on craft beers, spirits and shots.

And from 10PM, their big party begins, in the spirit of Biergarten declaring their love for the Marvelous City. DJs will include Felipe Guga, Just Mike, Christian K and Rafa M, as well as a performance from Bloco Beija Eu.

There will also be over twenty brands of beer available and an ample food court. This is a party that once you arrive at, you won’t want to leave. With three floors and stunning views of Guanabara bay, the Biergarten is a great place to start the weekend.

Caipi Sexta @ Caminhos Language Centre (Ipanema) – Once a month, Caminhos language centre sets up shop on the street and throws a hugely popular street party outside its building.

This is a place where students past and present, teachers, friends and many other expats all congregate to drink Caipirinhas and start the weekend with a bang.

All caipirinhas are only $5 reais with students getting their first drink for free.

Except to meet plenty of friendly and interesting people speaking both English, Portuguese and many other languages. The party starts at 5PM but then usually moves to the popular Ipanema bar, Canastra, and then sometimes even onto legendary jazz club, the Maze.

This is a cheap, cheerful and sociable way to start the weekend.
