Bloqueata da Desliga‎Sunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – The Abertura do Carnaval Não Oficial 2016 (the unofficial opening of Carnival 2016) will take place in Praça XV in Centro today.

Frevo Prato Misterioso will start things off at 10AM and Bloco do Rock will start at the same time at Praça XV. Bloco Te Vejo Por Dentro will also start at 10AM.

Tamborim Sensação will start at Esquina da Rua do Mercado at 12PM. Vem Cá Minha Flor and Enxota que eu vou will both start at 2PM.

Then Cordão do Prata Perta and Cordão do Boi Tolo will both start at 3PM followed by Bloco das Trepadeiras.

Jazz no Morro (Cantagalo)
Today and tonight, the weekly Jazz no Morro event returns to Gilda in Cantagalo with Federico Haffner performing live. Additionally during the night, DJs will spin the best of Brazilian music, pop, and classic rock during show intervals.

Tonight Sette Leblon will host the eighth edition of the Sette Zouk party. During the night, Thiagão, Arkkanjo, and Paloma “The Princess” will deliver the best of Zouk upstaris while DJ Floro spins the best of salsa and reggaeton downstairs. Promotions will include two-for-one specials on beer and caipirinhas until 11PM.

It’s time once again for the best of house, electro, and pop as the twelve-hour Duo party returns to Gávea’s chic 00 (Zero Zero) club. DJs Guga Rahner and Lucas Rios will start the party tonight by spinning on the deck beginning at 5PM. Then beginning at 12AM DJs Paula Pedrosa and Lis Amaral will follow, spinnning inside on the dancefloor until 5AM Monday morning.

Roda de Samba and Football with Ballet 2 Passistas (Football) (Lapa)
Sundays are all about samba and soccer at Lapa’s Leviano bar. Every week beginning at 5PM the venue plays live games on their screens with samba dancers following the matches and the group Samba Di Buteco playing classics of the genre, including works by Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho and João Nogueira, among others. Additionally, DJ Mukato will spin during show intervals.

Darcy Maravilha will start the night at Rio Scenarium tonight at 8PM with the best of sambas enredos. Carnival bloco Empolga às 9 will follow at 11PM with a live pratice in preparation for their procession during this year’s Carnival. Then beginning at 2:30AM, the group SertãoFulô will perform the best of forró live until sunrise on Monday morning.
