paradaSunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – The free event celebrating the very best of funk, Rio Parada Funk, returns for its fifth edition today and tonight from 10AM to 8PM.

Taking place simultaneously on two stages in Largo da Carioca and Praça Tiradentes, the event will feature approximately 150 artists selected by curators. Known as the “Conselheiros do Funk,” the curators include DJs and producers Marlboro, Grandmaster Raphael, Batutinha, Sanny Pitbul and others from the Eu Amo Baile Funk collective.

Performers on the Soul Bass Funk stage (Praça Tiradentes) will include MCs Bob Rum, Mascote, Junior, Leonardo, Deise Tigrona, Koringa, Lexa, Naldo Benny, Galo, Neném, Cacau, Geléia, Marcinho and DJs Grandmaster Raphael, MP4, Batutinha, and Sanny Pitbul.

Performers on the Parada Funk stage (Largo da Carioca) will include DJ Presuntinho, Os Havaianos, MCs Nego do Borel and Duduzinho, Neisinho, MCs William, Duda, Frank, and Ticão.

Jozef van Wissem (Botafogo)
Tonight Dutch composer and lutenist Jozef van Wissem will perform live at Audio Rebel in Botafogo. Wissem is well known for his collaborations with filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, including work on the 2013 award-winning soundtrack for “Only Lovers Left Alive.”

The Rio Parada Funk event is back today and tonight with approximately 150 DJs, MCs and more performing on two stages from 10AM to 8PM.

Jazz no Morro (Cantagalo)
Today and tonight, the weekly Jazz no Morro event returns to Gilda in Cantagalo. The Joaquim Jazz Quinteto will perform live and DJ João Santiago will spin the best of Brazilian rhythms, dance and rock during show intervals.

Duo (Gávea)
It’s time once again for the best of house, electro, and pop as the twelve-hour Duo party returns to Gávea’s chic 00 (Zero Zero) club. DJs will start the party around 5PM by spinning on the deck and more DJs will follow, spinning inside throughout the night until 5AM Monday morning.

Roda de Samba and Football with Ballet 2 Passistas (Football) (Lapa)
Sundays are all about samba and soccer at Lapa’s Leviano bar. Every week beginning at 5PM, the venue plays live games on their screens with samba dancers following the matches and the group Ballet 2 playing classics of the genre, including works by Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho and João Nogueira, among others. Additionally, DJ Mukato will spin during show intervals.

It’s time to dance as singer-songwriter Rogê returns for his weekly show at Lapa’s Carioca de Gema. The lively performer will present his own compositions as well as covers of works by Jorge, Djavan, and Jorge Benjor, among others.

The Arpex Party returns to Barzin Bar and Restaurant in Ipanema tonight with DJ Daniel Faria spinning funk, house, hip hop and reggaeton and saxophonist Marcelo Cebukin performing live. Additionally caipivodkas will be free until 12AM.

Tonight Saloon 79 in Botafogo presents Domingo Rock & Groove with the bands Netos Bastardos de João, Banda Verbara, and Cafefrio performing live.
