Tuesday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight legendary British singer-songwriter Morrissey returns to perform live in Rio de Janeiro at Citibank Hall in Barra da Tijuca.

Former frontman of iconic 80s band, The Smiths, who released their debut self-titled album in 1984, Morrissey released his first solo album, Viva Hate, in 1988. He has followed with fifteen additional releases and notable songs of his solo career include “Irish Blood, English Heart”, “The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get”, “Suedehead”, and “First of the Gang to Die.”

Morrissey arrives in Rio tonight while currently on tour in support of his most recent release, 2014’s World Peace Is None of Your Business.

Tonight singer Laura Canabrava will present her project “Aiye” live at Audio Rebel. “Aiye” means “Earth” in Yoruba and the show will feature a mix of African and Brazilian sounds and jazz including Canabrava’s reinterpretations of works by Moacir Santos, Nei Lopes, Baden Powell, Vincius de Moraes, Edu Lobo and Paulo Cesar Pinheiro, among others.

Every Tuesday night Bem Brasil Entretenimento is presenting the Pub Crawl Ipanema, a tour of Rio Nightlife. Beginning at Belmonte Bar in Ipanema (Rua Teixeira de Melo, 53) at 7:20 PM, the tour include stops at three bars and ends at the club, 00 (Zero Zero in Gávea), which hosts the Bem Brasil -The Rio Hostels Party on Tuesdays (see below.) The entry fee to 00 is included with the Pub Crawl price and there will be free caipirinhas in the club until 12AM as part of the party. Additionally, there will be three free shots and a drinking game, during the tour. No booking prior to the tour is needed and the tour happens rain or shine. Set up like speed dating, native English speakers will be paired with native Portuguese speaker at tables. The pairs will then speak English for five minutes followed by Portuguese for five minutes.
