levianoSunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick –Sundays are all about samba and soccer at Lapa’s Leviano bar.

Every week beginning at 5PM the venue plays live games on their screens with samba dancers following the matches.

The group Samba Di Buteco joins the event, playing classics of the genre, including works by Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho and João Nogueira, among others. DJ Mukato will also spin during the night.

Tattoo Week Rio (Centro)
The third edition of Tattoo Week Rio comes to a close today at Centro de Convenção Sul América (South America Convention Center) in Centro with its third and final day. More than 800 tattoo artists will again be working at 200 stands and today’s events will include contests and a live performance by MCs Marechal, Old Dirty Bacon, Spliff Rap at 2PM.

Carnival 2015 Samba School Technical Rehearsals ( Santo Cristo)
Two more samba schools head to Sambódromo tonight to hold their technical rehearsals in preparation for their 2015 Carnival parades. Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel will hold their practice first at 8PM and Mangueira will follow at 9:30PM. Technical rehearsals are free and open to the pubilc. While they do not include full costume and completed floats, they are still a great opportunity to preview each school’s parade and to hear their samba-enredo (samba theme song) for this year.

Sundae Tracks (Botafogo)
The Sundae Tracks party is back again at Casa da Matriz in Botafogo tonight. Helping to end your weekend on a high note, DJ Melvin will spin the best of indie rock and pop on the first floor, while special guest DJs will take to the decks on the second floor.

Lagoa’s Praia Club is hosting Ensaios do Brasília Amarela during every Sunday in January. The nights feature Brasília Amarela, Felipe Guga and Guga Fernandes performing live. Promotions include two for one Budweiser and two for one Smirnoff Ice all night.

Duo (Gávea)
It’s Sunday and that means it’s time to end your weekend with the best of house and electro pop at Duo in Gávea’s 00 (Zero Zero). The party begins early at 5PM and continues in the chic indoor/outdoor venue until 5AM. Things usually get started on the outdoor deck with DJs Fabiano Pax and Marcia Bertonni and then gradually shift inside where DJs Mor Rafael Calvente and Dri Toscano spin. The weekly event is also known to host special guest DJs.
