Sunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Today the sixth edition of the Dia da Rua festival will take place in Rio, with nine live shows taking place on eight stages located in and between the neighborhoods of Leblon and Arpoador.

All shows are free with the hope that the public will take advantage of the open spaces and move between shows, discovering new bands and artists as well as interesting places along the way.

At 3PM Diogo Strausz will perform with special guest Kassin at Pontão do Leblon. Lila with guest Matheus von Kruger will perform at 3:20 PM at Bartolomeu. Rubel and guest Qinho will play at Jardim de Alah at 3:40 PM and BQVC with guest Joana Queiroz will perform at Garcia at 4PM.

At 4:20 PM, Séculos Apaizonados with guest Luis Capucho will play at Coqueirão. Sistah with guest Jeru Banto will perform at Farme at 4:40 PM and Lucas Santtana with Ava Rocha will play at 5:20PM at Posto 8 (Lifeguard stand 8).

Silva and special guest Mahmundi will perform live at Arpex beginning at 6:30 PM and Omulu will close out the night at Arpex beginning his show at 7:30 PM.


Claudia Dorei (Botafogo)
Tonight singer-songwriter and musician Claudia Dorei returns to Audio Rebel in Botafogo to play live. Dorei first performed in the music store’s live space earlier this month on the 15th. Tonight VJ Le Pantoja will again provide visuals during the performance.

Dia da Rua (Eight Stages from Leblon to Arpoador)
Nine free shows will take place on eight stages located in and between the neighborhoods of Leblon and Arpoador today as part of the sixth edition of the Dia da Rua festival.

Duo (Gávea)
It’s time once again for the best of house, electro, and pop as the twelve-hour Duo party returns to Gávea’s chic 00 (Zero Zero) club tonight. DJ Guga Rahner will start the party on the deck at 5PM and DJs Scotty Thomson, Ana Paula, and Elisa Amaral will follow, spinning inside throughout the night until 5AM Monday morning.

Roda de Samba and Football with Ballet 2 Passistas (Football) (Lapa)
Sundays are all about samba and soccer at Lapa’s Leviano bar. Every week beginning at 5PM the venue plays live games on their screens with samba dancers following the matches and the group Ballet 2 playing classics of the genre, including works by Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho and João Nogueira, among others.

Rogê (Lapa)
It’s time to dance as singer-songwriter Rogê returns for his weekly show at Lapa’s Carioca de Gema. The lively performer will present his own compositions as well as covers of works by Jorge, Djavan, and Jorge Benjor, among others.

Domênica @ Saloon 79 (Botafogo)
Tonight Saloon 79 in Botafogo will present Domênica, an event that will feature an art exhibition, four bands performing live and two DJs spinning during the night. Band Lisabi from São Paulo will start the night at 6:30PM and band Beluga will follow at 7:30PM. The band Ventre will play next at 8:30PM and the American band Caddywhompus will perform live at 9:30PM to close out the live shows. Additionally during the night DJs Ivan Casco and Larissa Conforto will spin and the works of Rodrigo Muniz will be on display throughout the event.

Shenanigan’s (Ipanema)
With classic pub games like darts and pool, Ipanema’s Shenanigan’s is always a great spot to visit. Every Sunday, promotions include two for one Sol beer, caipirinha and caipivodka. Pizza Pub is also only R$10.

If you have never been to Bar Urca on a Sunday afternoon to drink beers and eat salgados while watching the sunset, you are missing a big part of what it means to be a Carioca. This simple establishment on the bayside has been a hit since 1939.
