Sunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – It’s time for dancing, as today, beginning at 3PM, there will be a party at Cidade das Artes to close out the Panorama Festival 2014.
Cidade das Artes, located in Barra da Tijuca (Rio’s West Zone), will host three co-productions by three choreographers from Rio. They will present works that celebrate the dances of passinho, funk, charm and hip-hop.
Renato Cruz will represent hip-hop through his presentation of “Sob rodas”, Alice Ripoll will celebrate funk/passinho with her presentation of “Suave”, and the best of charme will be on display as Son ia Destri Lie presents “Gueto (qual o ônibus que pego depois da rodoviária).”
Jason Derulo (Barra da Tijuca)
Know for his hit singles, “Talk Dirty” and “Wiggle“, American singer-songwriter Jason Derulo will perform live tonight at Citibank Hall in Barra da Tijuca.

Never Shout Never (Lapa)
American indie rockers, Never Shout Never will return to Rio tonight to perform live at Circo Voador. Frontman Christofer Drew formed the band in 2007 in Joplin, Missouri, United States. Drew, a guitarist and vocalist, was only sixteen years old when he started the band. They have since released five studio albums and in 2010 were headliners for the Vans Warped Tour.

Panorama Festival 2014 (Centro)
The Panorama Festival 2014 draws to a close today at Cidade das Artes in Barra da Tijuca with a party featuring three co-productions by three choreographers from Rio.

End your weekend with house and electro pop at Duo in Gávea’s 00 (Zero Zero). The party begins at 5PM and continues in the chic indoor/outdoor venue until 5AM. Things usually get started on the outdoor deck with DJs Fabiano Pax and Marcia Bertonni and then gradually shifts inside where DJs Mor Rafael Calvente and Dri Toscano usually spin. The weekly event is also known to host special guest DJs.

It’s time to dance as singer-songwriter Rogê returns for his weekly show at Lapa’s Carioca de Gema. The lively up-and-coming performer will present his own compositions as well as covers of works by Jorge, Djavan, and Jorge Benjor, among others.

Roda de Samba, Soccer (Football) and Ballet 2 (Lapa)
Sundays are all about samba and soccer at Lapa’s Leviano bar. Every week beginning at 4PM the venue plays live games on their screens with samba dancers following the matches and the group Ballet 2 playing classics of the genre, including works by Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho and João Nogueira, among others.
