Movie ScheduleWednesday’s Rio Nightlife Pick –The premiere edition of Gringo Halloween continues at Gringo Café. Tonight through November 1st, the American bar and diner is showing two Halloween-themed movies each night.

The family-friendlly film, “Vampire Dog” will start things off at 7PM tonight, followed by the 1982 horror classic, “Poltergeist,” at 9PM.

The Gringo Café is well known for bringing all things great about America to Ipanema, including beers, food, atmosphere and traditional holiday celebrations.

So, if you are looking for friends in Rio to start your Halloween celebrations early with, as Poltergeist’s Carol Anne says; “They’re Here.”

Museu Fórum – Experiências do Diálogo Urbano (Boa Viagem, Niterói)
Today at 3PM the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Niterói (MAC) will host the Museu Fórum – Experiências do Diálogo Urbano (Museum Forum- Experiences of Urban Dialogue). The 11th edition of the Musuem Forum will address the connections between modern urban life and architecture, art, and history. Guest speakers will include; Paul Knauss, Federal Fluminense University (UFF) History Department Professor and director-general of the Public Archives of the State of Rio de Janeiro; Panmela Castro urban artist and socal activist; and Gyssele Mendes, journalist and vice-coordinator of the Research Group on Communication and Society (GRECOS).

Then, beginning at 10PM, Marina Iris, a finalist from the 3rd edition of the New Old Samba competition, will perform her reinterpretations of the works of Paulo Vanzolini, João Nogueira, Cartola, Dorival Caymmi, Nássara, Pedro Caetano, and Mario Lago, among others.
