Bolsonaro Urges Population to Invade Brazilian Hospitals and Film Bed Supply

The President made the request after challenging the total number of coronavirus deaths in Brazil. On Thursday, June 11th, Brazil recorded 1,261 deaths, raising the total to 41,058 lives lost.
Without providing any evidence, Bolsonaro said that the federal government has been advised that the total number of deaths is inflated and that many people die for other motives, but that their death certificates include coronavirus as the cause.
“There is a political gain for these guys. That’s got to be it. Taking advantage of the people who die to achieve a political gain. And to blame the federal government,” he said. “I may be wrong, but as a whole or to a great extent, no one lost their life due to lack of a ventilator or an ICU,” he added.
So far, the novel coronavirus has killed more Brazilians than traffic accidents in the whole of 2019. The over 40,000 deaths from the novel coronavirus exceeded the 40,721 traffic deaths in 2019.
In addition, deaths by Covid-19 in Brazil have already exceeded the total recorded number of homicides in 2019. There were 39,776 last year, according to data from the Ministry of Justice and Public Safety.
