Former Justice Minister Sergio Moro Emerges as Bolsonaro’s Likely Adversary in 2022

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In 2022 Brazil will hold presidential elections and the current President, Jair Messias Bolsonaro, has announced and assured his supporters that he will seek re-election. There is speculation as to who will be his opponents in the next race for the country’s command.

Bolsonaro's supporters express their solidarity with the President and say that the survey only revealed a bad stage and assure that their favorite will be reelected.

In an attempt to satisfy popular speculation, the Quaest Research and Consultancy Institute conducted a survey that showed ex-Minister of Justice and Public Safety, and former judge Sérgio Moro, as Jair Bolsonaro’s most likely potential adversary.

According to the survey, Sérgio Moro had 19 percent of voting intentions, while President Jair Bolsonaro had 22 percent, which is very little for a candidate who is active; his share has been declining for some time.

The news spread on social media and divided internet users as usual. It happens that when the issue involves politics, Bolsonaro’s supporters express their solidarity with the President and say that the survey only revealed a bad stage and assure that their favorite will be reelected.

On the other hand, the other side cheered the survey’s results and hope Sérgio Moro decides to run in 2022.
