Activism has Paid Off: Macron’s Popularity at Home Rises in August

The French head of state recorded his best progress among people under fifty, among shopkeepers, artisans, business leaders, and also among French people who claim to be close to Europe's green movement.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Emmanuel Macron's popularity rating at home continued to improve in August (+2 points), with 34 percent of French people satisfied with his action according to an Ifop survey for Le Journal du Dimanche.

While the popularity of the French head of state had collapsed to 23 percent in December 2018, at the height of the "yellow vest" crisis, it is back to its August 2018 level, just after the Benalla affair. Sixty-six percent of those questioned said they were dissatisfied with the President's action.
