RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Emmanuel Macron’s popularity rating at home continued to improve in August (+2 points), with 34 percent of French people satisfied with his action according to an Ifop survey for Le Journal du Dimanche.
While the popularity of the French head of state had collapsed to 23 percent in December 2018, at the height of the “yellow vest” crisis, it is back to its August 2018 level, just after the Benalla affair. Sixty-six percent of those questioned said they were dissatisfied with the President’s action.
In detail, Emmanuel Macron recorded his best growth among people under fifty, among shopkeepers, artisans, business managers (45 percent satisfied, +7) and also among French people who say they are close to Europe-Ecologie Les Verts (41 percent satisfied, +14).
On the other hand, Mr. Macron dropped out of the Democratic Movement MoDem (66 percent satisfied, -8) and Socialist Party (22 percent satisfied, -3) voters.
The least likely voters to approve its action are those of the “Unsubmissive France” Party LFI (ten percent, stable) and the National Assembly (11 percent, +4).
