New Bolsonaro Decree: Religious Temples and Lottery Houses Are Essential Services

President Jair Bolsonaro broadened the list of services considered essential.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - In a decree published yesterday, the President includes religious temples and lottery houses on this list. As a result, these establishments will be allowed to operate despite the restrictions enforced by state and municipal governments to contain the spread of the new coronavirus in the country.

Yesterday's decree upgrades the March 20th decree, in which the president sets rules "on the operation of public services and essential activities". Temples and lottery houses were not included in that list.
