Bolsonaro Falls in Bathroom, Taken to Hospital Overnight, Released in Morning

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – President Jair Bolsonaro took a tumble in the bathroom on Monday night, hit his head, and was taken to the Armed Forces Hospital in Brasilia, where he underwent tests that did not detect any changes in his brain.

He was under observation until Tuesday, December 24th, when he was released, according to Planalto Palace.

Bolsonaro was first attended by the medical team of the Presidency of the Republic. According to Planalto, Bolsonaro, once in hospital, was submitted to a CT scan of the skull, which did not detect any changes.

The note was signed by Ricardo Camarinha, the official doctor of the Presidency. The Secretariat of Communication of the Presidency (Secom) confirmed the information about the president.

The Minister of the Office of Institutional Security (GSI), Augusto Heleno, went to the hospital to monitor the president’s situation. Just before 11pm, when leaving the site, Heleno said it was nothing serious.

On December 11th, Bolsonaro was in the same hospital, where he underwent a dermatological procedure near the ear region. On that day, the president himself even said he was investigating the possibility of skin cancer, but then rectified stating that the procedure was only for the control of spots.

According to Bolsonaro, three months ago a biopsy confirmed that there were no cancerous lesions at the site.

At the beginning of his term, Bolsonaro had to undergo surgery in the area of the abdomen still due to the stab wound suffered last September during a campaign in Juiz de Fora (MG).
