Bolsonaro walks in hospital, takes pictures with patients; family restricts visits

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – President Jair Bolsonaro took a short walk and posed for photos with patients at Vila Nova Star Hospital in the southern zone of São Paulo, where he has been hospitalized since Wednesday night (14) for treatment of intestinal complications.

A close source said Bolsonaro is ready to go and impatient with his hospitalization. The family has restricted visits and the president was persuaded to cancel the live broadcast he usually does on social media on Thursdays.

In a statement released early this afternoon, the hospital said Bolsonaro remains in the hospital and “is developing satisfactorily.” The president “remains on the previously established treatment schedule,” with no prediction of surgery or discharge.

Bolsonaro is in the hospital in the company of First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro and one of his sons, Rio de Janeiro City Councilman Carlos Bolsonaro.

Despite the restrictions, today the president received Minister Augusto Heleno of the Cabinet of Institutional Security (GSI), who also recorded the visit on his social networks.

“Today I visited President Bolsonaro, at the Vila Nova Star Hospital, in São Paulo. He is doing well but will continue to undergo some examinations and evaluations. His recovery has been better than expected, thanks to God and the prayers of friends and acquaintances,” Heleno said.

The Minister of Communications, Fábio Faria, is also in São Paulo, but it is still uncertain if the President will be able to receive him.
