Brazil expected to export up to 14.9 million tons of soy in May – ANEC

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazilian soybean exports should close May between 14 and 14.92 million tons, according to the weekly survey of the National Association of Cereal Exporters (ANEC).

In the week between May 16 and 22, Brazil shipped 3.34 million tons.

For the period between May 23 and 29, ANEC reports 3.52 million tons exported.

The forecast for soybean meal is for 1.95 million tons shipped in May. In the same month last year, total exports reached 1.77 million tons.

In April, the volume stood at 1.58 million tons. Last week, exports totaled 579,440 tons and the forecast for this week is 526,700 tons.

ANEC does not project corn shipments in May. In May last year, Brazil exported 29,700 tons. In April, sales abroad totaled 22,000 tons.

The association’s projection is based on the soybean shipment schedule in Brazilian ports, and, therefore, the figures differ from the data released by the Ministry of Economy.

Based on the Ministry’s data, market analyst Vlamir Brandalizze bets on record soybean exports for May, with at least 15 million tons.
