Considered one of the best South American players, he won the U.S. Open in 2007 and the Augusta Masters in 2009, two of the four major golf tournaments.

The two Argentines were taken on Monday from Rio de Janeiro to Foz do Iguaçu, a municipality in the Brazilian state of Paraná bordering Argentina and Paraguay.

They spent the night under police custody. This Tuesday, they were “effectively handed over” at the Tancredo Neves International Bridge, which connects Foz do Iguaçu with the Argentine town of Puerto Iguazú.

Those extradited were arrested in Brazilian territory under arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), which included them in its “red list”.

The Brazilian Supreme Court authorized their extradition last May, according to the note.

The Federal Police underlined that the whole procedure was accompanied by the Argentine consulate general in Rio de Janeiro, represented by the consul Claudio Gutiérrez.
