Brazil has trade surplus of US$2.04 billion in third week of July

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The trade balance registered a surplus of US$2.04 billion in the third week of July, announced the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) of the Ministry of Economy. The figure comes from exports of US$6.27 billion and imports of US$4.24 billion during the period. This year, the trade balance is positive at US$41.8 billion.

The daily average of exports increased 43.6% year-on-year to US$1.21 billion this month through the third week. The extractive industry continues to lead shipments, with a high of 69.7% for the period, followed by the processing industry (42.2%) and agriculture and livestock (20.7%).

Imports grew 54% on a daily average basis to US$790.8 million in July through the third week, when compared to July last year. The increase in imports was also led by the extractive industry (121.8%), followed by the processing industry (52%) and agriculture and livestock (33.5%).
