Brazil Records Twenty-two Percent Drop in Violent Deaths Over the First Half-year

There were 21,289 murders in the first six months of this year, whereas during the same period in 2018, there were 27,371. The national homicide index developed by the G1 follows violent deaths on a monthly basis. A downward trend has been observed since 2018.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Brazil has recorded a 22 percent drop in violent deaths in the first half of this year compared to the same period in 2018. The Northeast region accounts for the largest decrease.
