RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The Regional Electoral Court (TRE) of Sergipe voted yesterday, August 19th, to invalidate the election of the state governor, Belivaldo Chagas, and the vice-governor, Eliane Aquino, for misuse of political power.
By six votes to one, the court held that the governor used public funds to favor his re-election in last year's elections.
