Brazilian Government Plans new Road Crossing the Amazon

The goal is to open a 152-km stretch from the city of Cruzeiro do Sul, in Acre, to the Brazilian border with the neighboring country. On the Peruvian side, the road would connect with the city of Pucallpa.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - As the world turns its attention to the protection of the Amazon, the Jair Bolsonaro government decided to implement a project to open a new road in the heart of the forest. The track would cross a fully protected area, the Serra do Divisor National Park, on the border with Peru - currently home to the largest biodiversity in the whole region.

The new road is under study by the National Department of Transports . . .
