Brazilian 12-Month Rental Inflation Index at 4.95 Percent in August

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The General Market Price Index (IGP-M) used in the readjustment of rental contracts registered deflation (drop in prices) of 0.67 percent in the month of August. In July in Rio de Janeiro, the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) reported that inflation was at 0.40 percent.

The IGP-M accumulated inflation of 4.09 percent for the year and 4.95 percent in 12 months. The fall in the rate from July to August was driven by wholesale prices and the cost of construction.
