RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Opposition parties, Bolsonaro’s former allies, social movements, and trade union centers filed a “super motion” for impeachment against him, listing 23 alleged “crimes of accountability” he has committed throughout his mandate.
The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), said today that impeachment “is not done on top of statements” and that there is not enough political support today, neither in society nor in the Legislature for the removal of President Jair Bolsonaro.
“Impeachment is not done on statements. There is confusion, one person testifies one way, another testifies another way. The CPI that is installed will have its normal flow, it will be extended if it has enough signatures and follows its course, and here [in the Chamber], we will wait,” he said.
