Brazil’s Havan announces Copa America sponsorship on SBT

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – While Ambev, Diageo and Mastercard announced that they will not exhibit their brands during the Copa America matches as official sponsors of the event, Havan department store chain decided to sponsor SBT in the broadcast of the event. SBT holds the broadcasting rights. The owner of Havan is one of the wealthiest and most fervid supporters of President Jair Bolsonaro.

Ambev and Mastercard announced they will not exhibit their brands, while Diageo was the most incisive in its statement saying its decision was based on the current health situation in Brazil.

Brazil was yesterday the country with the highest number of daily deaths from Covid-19 once again, surpassing India, and is on the verge of a third wave of the pandemic.

Another official sponsor of the Copa America, Semp TCL, has not yet confirmed whether it will maintain its sponsorship.
