Brazil’s unemployment rate rose to 14.4% in February – IBGE

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL -  The unemployment rate in Brazil was 14.4% for the period ended February 2021, according to the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Pnad Contínua), released on Friday (30) by IBGE.

According to the Refinitiv consensus, the projected median unemployment rate stands at 14.5% for the period. In January, the unemployment rate was 14.2%.

The number of unemployed people in Brazil was estimated at 14.4 million in the quarter ended in February, the largest contingent since 2012, the beginning of the historical series . . .
