RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Food company BRF (BRFS3) on Wednesday announced a R$764 (US$150) million investment to expand its facilities in Santa Catarina and Mato Grosso do Sul.
According to the statement, R$643 million will be invested in the Santa Catarina units of Capinzal, Concórdia and Videira, and another R$121 million in the Dourados plant (MS).
“The Capinzal unit will direct the resources to the acquisition of equipment to expand the production volume in a breaded products line. In Concórdia, investments should open 107 jobs, with the expansion of the Ingredients line and the increase in the production of sliced and cured products.”
The Videira plant will feature a new cooked sausage facility, with the opening of 250 direct jobs.
The company’s CEO Lorival Luz said in the statement that BRF has a partnership with 4,700 rural producers in Santa Catarina.
“With the investment we will be able to expand and modernize a unit that serves both the domestic market and important countries to which we export, including China, with which we have an excellent relationship,” said Luz in relation to Mato Grosso do Sul.
