President Bolsonaro Will Travel to US Looking to Attract Tesla Plant to Brazil
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – President Jair Bolsonaro announced that he will travel to the United States next month in an effort to attract a Tesla electric car company plant to Brazil.

“In March I will be in the United States. In our extensive agenda is the prospect of Tesla in Brazil,” wrote the head of state on Twitter.
Part of the negotiations had already taken place last week, according to federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, the head of state’s son, who said he had taken part in a videoconference with Brazil’s Minister of Science and Technology, Marcos Pontes, and the US Embassy’s Minister-Councilor in Brazil, William Popp, to discuss the potential for attracting the investment.
Although the trip date and official agenda have not yet been released, the Globo newspaper reports that it will take place on March 9th and 10th.
The US company is renowned for producing electric cars with high battery life but also operates in the solar energy market.
In late January, its market value exceeded the US$100 billion (R$400 billion) mark for the first time.
