Brazil Banking Billionaire Joseph Safra dies at age 82

Safra was born in Lebanon in 1938 and immigrated to Brazil in the 1960s to help his father build Banco Safra, the bank said.

SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL - Joseph Safra, the Lebanese-Brazilian financier who has died aged 82, was Brazil’s richest man and for many years the world’s wealthiest banker.

Safra was born in Lebanon in 1938 and immigrated to Brazil in the 1960s to help his father build Banco Safra, the bank said.
