Brazil’s diagnostic giant DASA buys oncology specialist GEM Assistência Médica for US$150 million
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – DASA – Diagnósticos da América SA, the market leader in diagnostic medicine in Brazil and Latin America, announced that its Board of Directors approved the purchase of partner and control companies of GEM Assistência Médica through its subsidiary Ímpar Serviços Hospitalares for an amount of R$750 million (US$150 million).
Ímpar agreed to buy 100% of Paquetá Participações and AMO Participações. The two together own 99.69% of GEM’s total capital and 100% of the company’s voting capital.

DASA also stated that the total amount is still subject to adjustments in accordance with the standard mechanisms of this type of operation, which will still be submitted for ratification by shareholders at a general meeting to be convened.
GEM Assistência Médica Especializada, is engaged in the provision of oncology services, with chemotherapy treatments, including outpatient procedures and examinations, medical consultations related to oncology care lines, outpatient oncology treatments, and oncology surgeries in the states of Bahia, Sergipe, and Rio Grande do Norte.
