Brazil’s economy minister advocates lower taxes on labor as incentive for job creation

By · June 17, 2021 · 1 min read

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, said again on Thursday, June 17, that the Brazilian government must create conditions for broader job creation, citing the lowering of taxes on labor as one of the possible solutions.

Participating in the Supply Chain Forum of the Brazilian Supermarket Association (Abras), Guedes also said that the government must support both supply and purchasing by small family businesses.

“And for that, it is necessary to have cheap labor. Brazil has a weapon of mass destruction for jobs, which is social and labor taxes, we have to change that,” Guedes said in his remote participation.

He also classified the government as a “very cohesive team” trying to keep the production chain running.
