RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The minister further said that she will encourage denunciations of wage inequality.

The Minister of Women, Family and Human Rights, Damares Alves, states that the goal of the next three years is to redesign the rehabilitation process of juvenile offenders in the country and says she will end the option of intimate visits.

“Mama Damares will send a ball, a book, rice, and beans. Not condoms and lubricant,” she said.

In 2012, a law sanctioned by former president Dilma Rousseff guaranteed the right to intimate visits for young offenders who are married or who have been proven to live in a stable union.

Despite all her popularity, Damares, who is also an evangelical pastor, pedagogue, and lawyer, today discards being a candidate: “I’m a candidate for a hammock in a little house in Aracaju (SE)”.

During the conversation, the minister wept more than once when talking about controversial moments of her administration and says how she converted the story of “Jesus in guava tree”, told by herself at the start of the government, to explain the number of rapes she suffered between the ages of six and eight.
