2020 E-commerce in São Paulo State to Grow 32% over 2019 – Trade Association
SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – São Paulo’s e-commerce will close 2020 with a 32% growth in revenues compared to 2019, according to projections from the Cyclical Research of Electronic Commerce (PCCE), by the São Paulo State Federation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism (FECOMERCIOSP).
With the sales projected for Christmas and adding Black Friday purchases, the sector’s sales will reach R$29.2 (US$5.9) billion in November, against R$22.1 billion in 2019.

According to the survey, conducted quarterly by FECOMERCIOSP based on data provided by EbitNielsen, these significant results were achieved mainly due to the demand for durable products.
However, the projection shows a strong negative impact of the pandemic on the services sector in São Paulo, particularly in tourism and hospitality.
The growth trend should continue in 2021, according to the Federation. With the fear of a new wave of infections, e-commerce should grow by 6% next year, reaching R$31.1 billion.
Moreover, a 2% increase in revenues is projected compared to 2020, prompted by the return, albeit slow, of families to consumption.
