Brazilian YouTuber Felipe Neto Thanks Parents After Entering TIME’s 100 Most Influential List

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Felipe Neto used social media to comment on the inclusion of his name in the latest list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2020 prepared by Time magazine.

The digital influencer is featured in the “Icons” category and the magazine highlights the over 51 million followers on Neto’s social media – 39 million on YouTube and 12 million on Twitter.

The presentation text, signed by federal deputy David Miranda, says that the influencer, of humble origin, started a decade ago creating YouTube content and “quickly found fame, a huge and loyal young audience, and profitable sponsorships.”

After the list was released, Felipe made a series of Twitter posts to comment on the achievement and, in one of them, thanked his parents and girlfriend for their support. “I wouldn’t be on this list if it weren’t for my mother, Bruna, and my father”.

“They could have forced me to stop, to give up the fight, out of fear. They take risks along with me without doing anything ‘wrong’, but they gave me strength.”

In addition to expressing his gratitude, Felipe said that when his advisor told him about his inclusion in the list, he did not believe the information. “I told her: ‘check if this is not a prank, it could be someone’s prank’. We pretend to be used to this, but inside we’re like, ‘What am I doing here?'”

“It seems that at any moment I’ll wake up in shock and I’ll be at Engenho Novo still, in the tiny room that I shared with my brother… I’m going to look up at the ceiling and think: ‘aff, damn, I woke up,'” continued the influencer.

He also mentioned the inclusion of the name of President Jair Bolsonaro on the list.

In the “Leaders” category, Bolsonaro’s profile reports negative numbers for his term, such as the 137,000 killed by the coronavirus in Brazil, the “worst recession in 40 years” and the “over 29,000 fires in the Amazon forest in August alone”, but also his support by 37 percent of Brazilians.

Felipe Neto posted: “TIME100’s list includes those considered the most influential in the world, regardless of whether the influence was positive or negative. Yes, Jair Bolsonaro is the other Brazilian on the list, but the text about him speaks for itself. I suggest you read it.”
