Victoria’s Secret’s First Transgender Model is Brazilian
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Amid rumors that this year’s iconic Victoria’s Secret fashion show had been canceled, Brazilian Valentina Sampaio has announced that she will be in the next Pink line catalog. From Ceará, she is the first transgender model to be selected for works with the North American brand.

Valentina Sampaio started drawing attention when she became the first transsexual to feature as a poster girl for L’Oréal Paris, in 2016 — the same year she made her debut at São Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW). The model was also the first trans woman on the cover of Vogue Paris.
The model is managed by JOY Model, the same agency used by Lais Ribeiro, the brand’s only Brazilian angel.
Victoria’s Secret show in 2019 is canceled
Model Shanina Shaik said in an interview with the Daily Telegraph on Tuesday, July 30th, that the traditional Victoria’s Secret fashion show this year had been canceled.
The Victoria’s Secret Show is very popular for showcasing renowned models and pop singers on the rise. Brazilians Gisele Bündchen, Adriana Lima, and Alessandra Ambrósio have already been part of the “angels” team.
However, the event has been facing criticism for its lack of variety and for not keeping up with the new trends in the fashion industry.
