Foreign Website Purchases Lacking CPF or CNPJ Could Be Returned or Destroyed

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - As of Wednesday, January 1st, The Federal Treasury of Brazil is requiring that all international orders and shipments include the recipient's CPF (Individual Tax Identification Number), the CNPJ (Legal Entity Tax Identification Number) or passport number, in order to have the Customs clearance initiated.

The lack of information may bar entry of the goods and their return abroad or destruction, in cases where the return is not possible.

The data should be entered at the time of the online purchase and accompany the order.
