Gasoline prices in Brazil’s Southeast region increase 26.59% in the first semester

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Gas stations in the Southeast region registered the most expensive gasoline in Brazil in June. With an increase of 1.10% compared to May and 26.59% compared to December 2020, the liter of fuel was sold at an average of R$5.966 (US$1.15) this past month.

Ethanol, in turn, advanced 35.53% in the first semester and was found at R$4.879. The data is part of the Ticket Log Price Index, which analyzes fuel prices based on the fueling carried out in the 21,000 service stations accredited to Ticket Log.

“Diesel in the Southeast was found in June at R$4.574, while S-10 diesel was at the stations at an average of R$4.638. Compared to December last year, regular diesel presented an increase of 23.22%, and the S-10 type, 22.31%”, says Douglas Pina, director of Urban Market at Edenred Brazil.

São Paulo was the state with the lowest prices for fuels. Gasoline was sold at R$5.494; ethanol at R$4.222; regular diesel at R$4.497; and S-10 diesel at R$4.543.

The most expensive ethanol and gasoline were found in Rio de Janeiro, at R$5.427 and R$6.309, respectively. In Minas Gerais, diesel and S-10 diesel were sold at the highest prices: regular diesel at an average of R$4.679 a liter and S-10 diesel at R$4.729.

In Espírito Santo, the most expensive vehicular natural gas (CNG) was found in the region, at R$4.094. In the Southeast, the fuel was sold for an average of R$3.877 per cubic meter.

The study also analyzed the prices on the highways and Presidente Dutra. The fuels in São Paulo were sold for average values per liter lower than those found in Rio de Janeiro.

At the São Paulo service stations, diesel was found at an average price of R$4.444; S-10 diesel, at R$4.493; and gasoline, at R$5.434. In Rio de Janeiro, regular diesel fuel was found at an average of R$4.538; S-10 diesel, at R$4.576; and gasoline, at R$6.380.

At Fernão Dias tollroad, São Paulo also presented lower prices than in Minas Gerais. Diesel was sold at São Paulo service stations at R$4.389, and at Minas Gerais, at R$4.580. S-10 diesel was sold at R$4.432 in São Paulo, and R$4.646 in Minas Gerais. Finally, gasoline showed average prices of R$5.465 (SP) and R$6.074 (MG).
