Gol and American Airlines Sign Codeshare Pact Increasing US/South America Flights

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - On Tuesday morning, February 4th, Gol and American Airlines announced a reciprocal codeshare agreement to create "the most frequent service between the United States and South America". Brazilian and American authorities have yet to approve the agreement.

According to a press release, the extension includes new destinations in South America not yet served by American Airlines, such as Uruguay and Paraguay, in addition to the Brazilian cities of Curitiba and Foz do Iguaçu. Frequent flyers will also start accumulating points in both companies (via Smiles and AAdvantage) soon after the agreement is approved.
