Chinese carmaker Great Wall Motors signals intent to invest in Southeast Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Great Wall Motors (GWM), the largest private carmaker in China, sought Brazilian authorities last week to open a factory for electric cars and light SUVs in the Southeast region.

GWM has been studying Brazil for 2 years and is looking for a state that offers tax benefits to install the unit.

Market analysts and economists see it as an excellent possibility for Rio de Janeiro, currently impacted by high unemployment.

The company intends to start exporting vehicles next year . . .
