HempMeds to provide medical cannabis to Brazilian professional martial arts fighters

Leveraging this trend, HempMeds Brasil, which imports and sells herbal medicines, will provide cannabis treatments for MMA fighters Raoni Barcelos, UFC welterweight, and John “Macapá” Teixeira, Bellator featherweight.

In addition to the two, the brand has also partnered with ex-fighter and coach Pedro Rizzo. In return, the athletes will help share scientific information about cannabidiol treatments in the sports medicine field. HempMeds’ goal is for athletes to be spokespersons not only for the brand, but also for cannabinoid medicine in preventive health.

“High-performance sports ultimtely cause injuries and pain in athletes, and cannabidiol has shown encouraging results in the recovery of these professionals,” says neurologist Renato Anghinah, CMO (chief medical officer) of HempMeds.

According to the company, these are the first partnerships signed with active fighters.

Earlier this year, HempMeds had announced it would subsidize the treatment of two historic Brazilian boxing champions: ex-boxers Adilson Maguila and Éder Jofre, both with chronic traumatic encephalopathy, who use medical cannabis to treat their conditions.
