LDC and Amaggi join forces to create new freight forwarding company in Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Commodities trading companies Louis Dreyfus (LDC) and Amaggi have teamed up to convert freight forwarding platform Carguero into an independent company, the two companies said in a statement on Tuesday, June 15.

The information was disclosed earlier by Valor Econômico newspaper, which also indicated partnerships with agribusiness multinationals Cargill and ADM.

“Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) confirms that a set of corporate operations involving the Carguero joint venture is under analysis by the Brazilian competition body and other regulatory entities,” the company statement said.

“In addition to approvals by the competent authorities, the deal is subject to the usual conditions in transactions of this nature,” said Amaggi, which also confirmed the deal.

In May, competitor Bunge announced a partnership with logistics and technology solutions provider Target to create the company Vector, focused on digitalizing the process of hiring road freight and other services.

The venture came after a little over a year of operation of the Vector app, developed by the companies for hiring Bunge’s freight.
