The Southeast region recorded 12,799 (57.7 percent) of the country’s cases. The Northeast region is the second most affected with 4,246 (19.2 percent), followed by the South with 2,159 (9.7 percent); North with 1,898 (8.6 percent); and Midwest with 1,067 (4.8 percent).
Deaths more than double in a week
The death toll has more than doubled since last week. On Monday, April 6th, there were 553 deaths. The increase in relation to the total reported on Sunday was 121 percent.
