Indigenous Leaders Reject Brazil Government’s Attempt to Deceive UN Using Showcase Indian

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Last Wednesday, September 18th, Jair Bolsonaro shared on social media a video of Ysani Kalapalo, a village resident in the Xingu Indigenous Park in northern Mato Grosso, regarding the fires in the Amazon Forest.

In the recording, Ysani appears in the village and states: "There is a lot of fake news about the fires, which is the fault of Bolsonaro's government ... There is no such thing there." According to her, the fires are part of the local culture for clearing land. "It is not because of a new government that everything is burning," she said . . .
