Uber Celebrates Five Years in Brazil With 2.6 Billion Trips

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Exactly five years ago, Uber arrived in Brazil, with its offer of rides available 24 hours a day through a mobile App. On the date of its anniversary, Uber announced on Wednesday, July 17th, that it had reached the mark of 2.6 billion trips in the country – in all, more than 17 billion kilometers were traveled.

The App now has more than 600,000 drivers registered in Brazil, and the most committed Brazilian driver has completed 25,000 trips through the App in recent years.

Uber also said Brazilians have already paid more than R$35 (US$9.3) million in tips to partner drivers since the resource was launched.

Interestingly enough, Friday, at 7 PM, is the peak time for Uber’s travels in Brazil. Another interesting information disclosed by the company is that citizens of 129 countries have already used Uber in Brazil — the foreigners using the App the most are North Americans.
