Brazil’s Lula Meets With Leaders of Other Parties Planning 2020 Elections

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was in a meeting with leaders of the Democratic Labour Party (PDT) and the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB) last week.

The meeting aimed to build a leftist network in opposition to the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PSL) and form alliances with Lula’s Worker’s Party (PT) planning for the 2020 municipal elections.

According to daily Folha de S.Paulo, the PT should also submit a set of proposals to fight unemployment, boost consumption, and increase revenue.

The party’s deputies and senators have already filed for some of these proposals in Congress.

The key initiative is to create proposals that differ from the policies of the current President of the Republic.
